A film ends and two hours have passed. Yet a few minutes with the Quran can feel difficult to sustain. Before your next session, ask a deeper question: why do I want the Quran in my day?
Read because you want to become close to Allah
Your purpose can be clear: “I want to seek Allah’s pleasure, become closer to Him and let His guidance shape my life.” That gives your reading a reason worth protecting.
“The people of the Qur'an, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him.”
This hadith, graded hasan by Darussalam, gives us an aspiration: to become among the people of the Quran. Let that aspiration guide a relationship you nurture through reading, learning and acting on its guidance.
Allah describes the Quran as a blessed Book in Sad : 29 and connects its revelation with contemplation. Reading it is an opportunity to receive guidance and seek barakah, with attention to what Allah is telling us.
Notice the opportunity you still have today
It is easy to postpone when you assume the opportunity will always be available. Today, you can still open the Quran, learn its meaning and act on its guidance. Give that opportunity a place in your day while you have it.
Protect a daily time and set a clear target
Choose a specific commitment: ten minutes or two pages after a particular prayer, for example. Decide the time and place before the day becomes busy. Treat it as an important appointment and give it priority over optional entertainment.
Choose a target you can maintain. Once it becomes steady, increase progressively—perhaps another page or a few more minutes. The Prophet ﷺ teaches in Sahih al-Bukhari 6464 that the deeds most beloved to Allah are those maintained regularly, even when small. Let consistency be the foundation for growth.
Prepare to be present
Put your phone beyond reach, or silence notifications if you use it to read. Prepare with wudhu as part of treating the session with care. Before beginning, seek refuge with Allah from Shaytan, as taught in An-Nahl : 98.
Pause long enough to remember your intention. You have set this time aside to draw closer to Allah and listen to His guidance.
Understand, ponder and carry one lesson into life
Recite, then read a reliable translation. Learn Quranic Arabic progressively so more of the words become meaningful as you encounter them. You can begin learning while continuing your daily recitation.
Ask: “What can I learn from this ayah?” Keep your answer connected to its words and context; consult reliable tafsir or a qualified teacher when unclear. Then ask: “What can I put into practice today?” A command may guide a choice. A description of Allah may deepen your trust.
ThinkQuran helps you learn Quranic words through Word Quest, understand familiar surahs through Surah Quest, and connect their guidance with daily life through Reflection. Use that understanding to deepen the time you already give to the Quran.
